Please take time to comment in support of common sense protections that reduce oil and gas emissions, improve air quality and prevent wasting of precious natural resources in Pennsylvania. (Deadline 7/30/25)*

Methane, the primary component of natural gas, has been identified by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency as the second-most prevalent greenhouse gas emitted in the United States from human activities.
With federal estimates that the natural gas and oil industries account for a quarter of U.S. methane emissions, reducing methane leaks from the oil and gas sector is one of the essential steps needed to reduce global greenhouse gas emissions and reduce the impacts of climate change.
The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (or DEP) has announced the State Plan that details the implementation and enforcement plan for the EPA’s New Source Performance Standards and Emissions Guidelines for greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from oil and natural gas facilities and an opportunity for public comment.
∎ Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection proposal will align environmental and economic goals and promote innovation.
∎ Reducing methane emissions is crucial for mitigating climate change and safeguarding public health.
∎ Over a 20-year period, methane has roughly 85 times the Global Warming Potential of carbon dioxide.
∎ Even small reductions in methane emissions can have a significant impact.
Leave your comments in support of Gov. Shapiro’s plan to control methane emissions in Pennsylvania.
