US Military Action in Venezuela

Under orders from President Trump, the US military has now captured Venezuela’s president, Nicolás Maduro — after weeks of U.S. military attacks — without approval from Congress and without a clear legal basis. That’s not how this works. The Constitution does not give a president the power to start military action or grab a foreign leader on his own.

Maduro is a brutal dictator, and people celebrating his fall makes sense. But celebration doesn’t make it legal. Claims that this was about “narco-terrorists” don’t hold up, and killing people based on suspicion alone violates U.S. and international law.

This kind of lawless action puts the U.S. on a dangerous path and cuts Congress out of decisions about war. Call Sen. McCormick (610) 782-9470, Sen. Fetterman (717) 782-3951, Rep. Ryan Mackenzie (484) 781-6000. and demand accountability.

Suggested Script:
“Hi, my name is ___ and I’m a constituent from ___. I’m calling to say I do not support the president using the military against Venezuela without Congress’s approval. Congress has the constitutional responsibility to decide on war, and I expect my representative/senators to speak up and act to stop unauthorized military action. Thank you.”
